00636704117be588_Picture_1While many Hollywood stars are turning to straw hats for their fashion statements, popular musicians are following suit. You would be surprised at the number of popular musicians donning straw today. From country to rock, indie to rap and even some pop, musicians are trading in their baseball caps and cowboy hats for straw!

Country artist Kenny Chesney admittedly tells people that he spends as much time in his Caribbean home as possible. This is why it really shouldn’t be surprising that Kenny wears a cowboy hat crafted from Panama straw. It is cool, comfortable and definitely makes a fashion statement.

80s rocker Jon Bon Jovi has also been seen recently wearing a straw cowboy hat, as has pop star turned paparazzi target Britney Spears. Unlike traditional cowboy hats, straw cowboy hats are much lighter and allow the head to breathe. Sweaty headbands are a thing of the past.

R&B artist R. Kelly has also been seen around town in a fashionable straw hat. Dropping the more traditional bandana or baseball cap, R. Kelly proves that straw is as cool as ever! Straw hats are not strictly for country and bluegrass musicians.

Go back in time to the 1960s and even Paul McCartney of the Beatles was known to parade around in a straw hat. In the 1970s and 80s, Elton John had a collection of straw hats.

For many musicians, straw hats are simply a fashion statement. For others, like one-hit wonder Paris Hilton, straw hats are the best way to hide her face from the paparazzi.

Straw hats are not only affordable, but they also are made from the strong stalks of many grain plants. Straw is versatile and generally takes a beating before wearing down. The hat you purchase today can still look like new a few years from now. Unlike baseball caps that wear out after a year of repeat use, straw hats can a very long time. Even better, straw has been fashionable for thousands of years.
